ACHC: Boys Lead Coach

Amersham & Chalfont Hockey Club is a thriving, community-based club with over 400 junior members and 13 senior teams. We are proud to offer excellent facilities, including a fantastic pitch and a modern clubhouse. The club holds England Hockey ClubMark accreditation and is working towards achieving Talent Centre status in 2025, alongside exciting plans to expand our clubhouse and develop a second pitch.

The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Boys Lead Hockey Coach to inspire and guide boys across multiple age groups (U10–U18). This role is central to developing a strong junior section that feeds into our senior teams.

The successful candidate will foster a love for hockey while developing players’ technical skills, tactical understanding, and personal values such as teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect.

Key Responsibilities

*Plan, organise, and deliver engaging coaching sessions for boys aged 8–18 across a range of abilities
*Develop and implement age-appropriate training programmes focusing on skill development, fitness, and tactical awareness
*Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive team environment that encourages player growth
*Provide constructive feedback to players and communicate effectively with parents where appropriate
*Support and coach teams at matches and junior festivals (home and away), primarily on Sundays
*Collaborate with the Men’s section and coaching team to support player development pathways into senior hockey
*Attend club meetings and events as required

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

*Minimum England Hockey Level 2 or Lead Coach Qualification
Valid DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check (or willingness to obtain)
*First Aid Certificate
*Experience coaching junior players in a club or school environment

Desirable:

*Understanding of long-term athlete development
*Experience of leading a team of coaches

Working hours

A part-time seasonal role, primarily during the junior hockey season (September to April). The specific coaching schedule will be discussed with the candidate, but flexibility is required to accommodate training and matches.

Junior training sessions are on Sundays and weekday evenings at pitches in Amersham.
