About the club

Ashford Middlesex Hockey club is a friendly club based outside of the ULEZ zone, but playing within the London area. We have 4 mens teams,  3 Ladies teams and a thriving junior section, plus an O45’s Masters team who have  won their league two years in a row. 

We have a great group of committed and talented players, and our ambition is to continue an upward trajectory and we are looking for a coach who can match this desire that we must continue to grow and develop our players. This is an exciting time for Ashford (Middlesex) HC and we are looking for someone to help develop our Ladies sections to the next level of performance.

About the position

Ashford (Middlesex) HC are currently seeking a Ladies sessional coach for the 2025/26 season to support  our ladies section. Working closely with our Ladies head coach, you’ll deliver sessions across the Ladies section, working equally with our performance and development squads. Our Ladies club training takes place from 7.30pm - 9.30pm every Thursday evening at Ashford Middlesex Hockey club pitch. 

Responsibilities

  • Create a season training roadmap in conjunction with our performance squad & volunteer coaches for the Ladies
  • Design and delivery of weekly training sessions for all ladies club players on Thursday evenings.
  • Development of youth players identified as fast-track potentials to play 1st/2nd Team squads.
  • Monitor performance, commitment and provide feedback on a team and individual level.
  • Travel where possible with the Ladies 2nd/3rd XI teams on Saturdays to manage gameplay and adapt tactics to achieve results.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Ability to engage and effectively communicate with all levels of players.
  • Capability to run sessions for large numbers.
  • The successful candidate will hold at least a sessional (level 2) coaching qualification & current/valid DBS
  • Up to date knowledge of the game and modern coaching style
    The ability to manage players, work alongside the team and club captains.
  • Team selection on a weekly basis will be central to the role.
  • Work with coaches and club leadership to ensure coaching development throughout the club and to attract new players.
  • Remuneration dependant upon experience, starting from £25 per hour.
