Ashford Middlesex Hockey club is a welcoming and competitive club playing in the London League (but based outside of the ULEZ zone). We have 3 Women's teams in addition to 4 men’s teams, a thriving junior section, a mixed team and an O45s Women's Masters team. Having a fixed home pitch with an onsite club house creates a friendly and cohesive atmosphere across the club.
We have a great group of committed and talented Women players, and our ambition is to continue an upward trajectory and we are looking for a coach who can match this desire so that we can continue to grow and develop our players. This is an exciting time for Ashford (Middlesex) HC and we are looking for someone to help develop our Women's sections to the next level of performance. Our Women 1’s have been promoted this season to London Division 2 South, our 2’s are currently top of Division 5 North and our 3’s have seen a large number of juniors make their debut seasons in Division 6 South West.
About the position
Ashford (Middlesex) HC are currently seeking a Women's Club coach, to work alongside the performance squad coach for the 2026/27 season. Our Women's club training takes place from 7.30pm - 9.30pm every Thursday evening at Ashford Middlesex Hockey club pitch.
- Responsibilities
Create a season training roadmap in conjunction with our performance squad & volunteer coaches for the Women's teams. - Design and delivery of weekly training sessions for all women club players on Thursday evenings.
- Development of youth players identified as fast-track potentials to play 1st/2nd Team squads.
- Monitor performance, commitment and provide feedback on a team and individual level.
- Travel where possible with the Women's 2nd/3rd XI teams on Saturdays to manage gameplay and adapt tactics to achieve results.
Qualifications & Skills
- Ability to engage and effectively communicate with all levels of players.
- Capability to run sessions for large numbers.
- The successful candidate will hold at least a sessional (level 2) coaching qualification & current/valid DBS
- Up to date knowledge of the game and modern coaching style
The ability to manage players, work alongside the team and club captains. - Team selection on a weekly basis will be central to the role.
- Work with coaches and club leadership to ensure coaching development throughout the club and to attract new players.
