Bury St Edmunds Hockey Club (BSEHC) is one of the largest and most vibrant hockey clubs in East Anglia. With 12 adult teams and a thriving junior section, we are based at high-quality facilities at Culford School and are in the process of rejuvenating a third pitch in the centre of town. Our Women’s 1st XI competes in the East Premier League, and our Men’s 1st XI were crowned champions last season and promoted into Division 1. With strong momentum, our ambition is to progress to National League hockey.
The club’s junior programme is growing, balancing talent development with broad participation. We run the EH BSEHC EAST Talent Academy, hold Talent Centre and Clubmark status from England Hockey, and host the Suffolk County junior programme. Our Bury Larks initiative, launched recently, extends hockey to local schools and communities across West Suffolk through after-school clubs, outreach sessions, school tournaments, and holiday camps.
Coaching Opportunities:
We are building a dynamic senior coaching team and seeking high quality enthusiastic, qualified coaches to support our next stage of growth. Roles available include:
- Women’s 1st XI Coach or Player-Coach
- Youth Head Coach
- Lead Coach for Bury Larks outreach, including after-school delivery, camps, and festivals
These roles are ideal for candidates passionate about player and coach development, team performance, and community engagement.
Potential Director of Hockey Role:
For the right candidate, we are open to combining some of these responsibilities into a bespoke Director of Hockey position. This full-time role would suit someone looking to build or further a professional coaching career within a forward-thinking, inclusive, and ambitious club. It would still require significant on field coaching but would also include responsibility for co-ordinating coach development across the club.
