Cambridge City HC: Women's 2nd & 3rd XI Coaches
Cambridge City Hockey Club Cambridge, CB3 0EQCambridge City Hockey Club, one of the leading clubs in the East of England, is seeking two coaches to lead our women’s 2nd XI and women’s 3rd XI teams. These are two separate roles, advertised together, with both teams competing in the East Premier Division.
Our women’s 2nd XI is targeting promotion as league champions. The coach will lead one dedicated 2nd XI session each week, support the 1st XI coach in a combined 1st/2nd XI session each week, and attend match days.
Our women’s 3rd XI is aiming for a top-five finish after another strong season in the East Premier Division. Between them, our two sides finished third and fifth last season, underlining the quality and depth across the women’s performance programme. The 3rd XI coach will lead one training session each week and attend match days.
About the Roles
The objectives for both roles are clear: to drive strong on-pitch performance while building on the club’s existing culture. For the women’s 2nd XI, that means winning promotion; for the women’s 3rd XI, it means securing a top-five finish. In both roles, helping to integrate adults and juniors into the team is essential.
The successful candidates will have proven experience in technical coaching, tactics, and empowering players to be leaders. They will be supported by leadership groups in both teams.
The teams are made up of a mixture of adults and juniors, including former senior internationals, current junior internationals, current masters internationals, and athletes with legitimate aspirations to secure representative honours.
The coaching team at Cambridge City is just that – a team. An ability to work with others is fundamental and an understanding of the club’s vision and ambition will be key.
About the club
Cambridge City is long established as the centre of excellence for hockey in our area. Our 1st XI squads have a strong history of national league hockey and our womens teams have undergone a period of significant growth and success.
The club has helped produce a number of current senior internationals including, but not limited to, Tess Howard, James Albery, Katie Curtis, Rhodri Furlong and Becca Daniel, Euan Gilmour and Gordon Armour amongst others.
While elite performance and delivering on pitch is a cornerstone of our operation we are, at our heart, a community club. We have policies in place to ensure anyone can play hockey and that they enjoy the benefits of our wonderful sport. From junior to senior hockey we have active members from ages 4 to over 70. We have a vibrant social scene – with weekly socials throughout the season and much of the summer.
In recent years we have begun international tours, with destinations including Oslo and now we are looking at the likes of Germany and Belgium.
