An exciting opportunity is available at the City of Peterborough Hockey Club for the role of Women’s 1st Team Coach. We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and qualified coach to lead and
develop our 1 st team upon their return to the East Women’s Premier League, with goals to develop into National League.

Skills/ attributes

For this job role, the applicant needs to demonstrate high standards of communication and interpersonal skills to work with an established group of individuals as well as support the club development of players into this level of hockey. In doing so, encouraging player development, retention and recruitment. 

The applicant needs to demonstrate excellent organisation, adaptability and professionalism to promote an excelling and approachable environment for all players.

Expectations

The individual is expected to deliver training sessions for the Women’s 1 st team squad, that provides strong technical and tactical guidelines, with the aim to improve individual and squad performances. The applicant will also be available to provide match day sideline support for home and away games, to optimise playing performance to aid the success of the team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and ambitious hockey coach with a passion for the game and to further enhance the future of our hockey club. The Women’s 1 st team coach is also expected to work alongside other club coaches to support the development opportunities of players and teams within the club.

At Peterborough, we strive to support any applicant with their own personal coaching development to ensure coaching expectations are met and support the success of the team. You will be expected to work alongside our Head of Coaching and Club Development to achieve the club goals.

Duties include but are not limited to:

- Plan and deliver two training sessions per week for the Women’s 1st team
- Attend match days at weekends influencing team tactical performance
- Help identify leading players and nurture junior player development
- Work with other Coaches, Captains and Chair of selectors, to manage the chosen match day squad
- Monitor performances and provide individual and team feedback
- Support team development both on and off the pitch, starting with pre-season fitness, friendlies and maintain this throughout the season
- Use video analysis to support training and midweek preparation, along with match days tactics.

We are fortunate to own our pitch and have newly refurbished facilities onsite to promote a professional environment and strong community club networks.

Essential Qualifications:

- Safeguarding and protecting children
- Enhanced DBS
- Level 2 hockey coaching or other recognised qualifications
- First Aid
- You must be eligible to work in the UK
