Eastbourne Hockey Club are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced coach for our Women's 1st XI / performance squad. 

Eastbourne HC is a family friendly and inclusive club, committed to developing players of all ages and skill levels. We have 4 women's and 5 men's teams, 2 junior development teams and a growing junior section with strong U14/16/18 squads. Our U18 boys were EH plate champions this year. We also have an amazing clubhouse right next to the pitch, with Gun Brewery Taproom. Our home ground is situated in the centre of Eastbourne, with further development plans for new changing facilities. 

Our Women's 1st XI is in the South East Premier league and are looking to finish in the top 4 next season. The team have a number of junior players, regularly selected and there are more pushing for places within the performance squad. 

We are seeking an experienced coach to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the sport, a strong understanding of coaching at this level (if not higher) as well as the ability to inspire and motivate players. We are looking for someone who can be adaptable and get the best from our talented players. 

Key responsibilities: 

  • plan, organise and conduct an effective training program;
  • attend all 1st XI matches; 
  • develop and implement game strategies and tactics;
  • provide constructive feedback and support players to enhance their skills and performance;
  • monitor and evaluate player progress and development;
  • attend team selection meetings; 
  • collaborate with other coaches to ensure a cohesive club coaching and selection approach;
  • provide a positive and inclusive team environment;
  • possible use of video analysis to develop players and game tactics (tbd).

Qualifications/Experience:

  • previous coaching experience at a similar level;
  • relevant coaching qualifications (e.g. Level 2 or equivalent, first aid, safeguarding etc);
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive team culture;
  • ability to work effectively with players of all ages and varying abiltities. 

Rate of Pay:

  • negotiable, depending on experience.
