We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Hockey Development Officer to promote and develop hockey programmes within our community. The position is part time, from 15-24 hours a week. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth of hockey, foster teamwork, and encourage healthy lifestyles through sport. The position is paid and ideal for individuals passionate about sports coaching and teaching, with a focus on youth development and community engagement.
The development Officer will work with the Management Committee to generate a structure within the Club that drives forward and coordinates professional hockey provision, increases playing opportunities (where appropriate) and ensures a vibrant hockey club is at the centre of driving sustainable hockey development in the community, helping position Harrogate as one of the leading hockey clubs in Yorkshire and the North of England.
Responsibilities
● Establish the Club Development Plan and manage the implementation of this, ensuring Club Mark Accreditation is maintained
● Attract and retain additional Senior members to the Club
● Generate additional income for the Club through Hockey Camps, additional pitch hire and tournaments
● Ensure that the Club maximises opportunities to run England Hockey initiatives, such as Back to Hockey.
● Increase the profile of the Club locally and nationally; this will include liaison with relevant agencies in order to promote coverage of the Club in the local press and social media
● Help each Section of the Club to ensure that its players participate in age and stage related competitions, ranging from local to regional to national events where appropriate.
● Ensure growth in the Club by increasing active participation across all Junior age categories, Seniors, Veterans and social members
● Increase links with secondary and primary schools in the area, maximising their facilities for developing hockey in their sport curriculum
● Consider and develop means by which the Club can source grant and other funding from local and national governmental departments.
Requirements
Proven experience in sports coaching or teaching, preferably within hockey or similar team sports.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan effective training sessions.
Excellent communication skills to motivate participants of all ages.
A passion for developing young talent and promoting healthy lifestyles through sport.
Relevant coaching qualifications or certifications are desirable but not essential; willingness to obtain necessary accreditations is expected.
Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and occasional weekends as required for programme delivery.
A valid DBS check or willingness to undergo one prior to employment is essential. The check will paid for by HHC and any offer will be conditional to a valid check. This role offers an enriching environment where you can make a meaningful impact on individuals’ lives.

Pay rate: £15,000 - £24,500 subject to hours and experience
