Head of Coaching
Maidstone Hockey Club Maidstone Hockey ClubAs part of an exciting new role MHC are looking to recruit a high achieving coach with experience of delivering improvement, who can help the club to grow our hockey performance and reach new levels. This role would oversee and evolve our coaching offering to both outfield players and GKs in line with club ambitions.
Job Title: Head of Coaching
Primary Location: Maidstone Hockey Club
Hours & Pay: Negotiable on application
Responsible to: Vice Chair Play
How will you support MHC develop & grow:
➢ Be a dedicated 1st team coach for either Ladies or Men sides
➢ Support the player progression pathway
➢ Act as a guide and mentor to all club coaches
➢ Explore opportunities for creating links in local schools
➢ Assist and support with coaching recruitment
➢ Deliver junior hockey camps during holiday periods
➢ Ensure an inclusive and progressive coaching ethos is maintained across the whole club
➢ Always promotes a positive image of MHC
➢ Keeping MHC up to date with current coaching methods and techniques as determined by England hockey
➢ Familiarise and cooperate fully with all relevant MHC policy and procedures
What you will need:
➢ Minimum UKCC Level 2 in Hockey Coaching or equivalent
➢ A satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
➢ An in-date First Aid certificate
➢ Current child protection certificate – safeguarding children
➢ Evidence of Continual Professional Development (CPD)
Skills & Experience required:
➢ Working with young players (U18’s and below)
➢ Working as part of a team
➢ Ability to clearly communicate to all levels
➢ To be able to identify and prioritise individual and club needs
➢ Ability to provide constructive feedback
➢ To be able to manage and resolve conflict
➢ Experience mentoring other coaches
Why MHC:
Maidstone Hockey Club are based in south Maidstone with a modern clubhouse and adjacent pitch we are one of the oldest hockey clubs in the country expected to celebrate our 150th anniversary within the 27/28 season. We run 4 Ladies and 6 men’s teams catering for all ability levels along with entering teams into Competitive Cup competitions including
Veteran and mixed hockey. We have a well-established and growing junior section offing hockey to a wide range of ages and abilities. MHC has a great community base and there are numerous opportunities to engage socially both during the season and over the summer months. The club have big ambitions and aspire to reach new heights in the coming seasons.
