Senior Section Club Coach
Market Harborough Hockey Club Market Harborough, LeicestershireMarket Harborough Hockey Club is seeking a passionate, skilled, and dedicated Coach (or Coaches) to lead our senior men’s and women’s sections for the 2026/27 season, and to assist with the development of our players for the future of the club. We are flexible to consider the position for one, or both, of the senior sections.

Based in Leicestershire in the East Midlands, Market Harborough HC is a forward thinking and inclusive club catering to a diverse group of hockey enthusiasts. We pride ourselves on our competitive spirit, enjoyment, and our commitment to developing both individual skills and team strategies. We currently run three men’s and two women's senior teams playing in the Midlands Hockey Adult Leagues.
Job Description
As Coach you will be responsible for planning, organising, and delivering high-quality training sessions for the senior teams. You will play a pivotal role in developing the skills of our players, fostering a positive club environment, and preparing the teams for competitive matches.
Key Responsibilities
- Training Sessions: conduct senior training sessions on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, from 7.30pm to 9.00pm (currently the women train on Tuesday and the men train on Wednesday).
- Game Days: if available, lead the teams during home games, typically held on Saturdays, occasionally Sundays (approximately 1.5-2 hours per game).
- Strategy Development: develop and implement effective game strategies and tactics.
- Player Development: focus on enhancing the technical, tactical, physical, and mental aspects of players’ performances.
- Team Selection: assess players’ abilities and select team line-ups for matches, working with the captains for team selection.
- Mentoring: provide guidance and mentorship to players, fostering a supportive and inclusive team culture.
Qualifications
- Essential: EH Level 2 hockey coaching qualification or above (or equivalent, or working towards L2), UK Visa, and own ability to travel to training sessions.
- Desirable: experience in coaching at club level.
- Skills: excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
- Personal Qualities: passionate about hockey, enthusiastic, flexible, team-oriented, and able to inspire others.
