We are looking for two Lead Coaches, one for our Men's Performance Squad and one for our Ladies' Performance Squad (comprising the first and second teams) for the 26/27 season and beyond. For the right candidate there may be scope for additional responsibilities as Head of Hockey.

The Club

ACHC is a vibrant, friendly, and competitive club, with over 400 juniors and 17 adult teams. The club’s growth and management are built on a broad pool of committed and supportive volunteers. Our adult sections are very much integrated with the success of the juniors, many of whom progress to the top adult sides. 

We have a fantastic pitch and clubhouse, have submitted a planning application to build a second pitch, and have Talent Centre status.

The Role

  • Lead Coaches for the Senior Performance squads. Our first teams are both in the South Central League Premier 1 and we are aiming to achieve national league status. Our Men’s second team are on track for promotion to the South Central League Premier 2 and our Ladies’ second team are performing strongly in their league.
  • Reports to Senior Club Captains, the appointees will work closely with team captains and the Lead Coach for the Junior Section.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and running training sessions pre-season and during the season (August to April)
  • Work with other coaches and Club Captains to identify and promote emerging talent.
  • Manage the First team at Saturday matches, and the Second team matches where feasible.
  • Note: Option for early involvement during pre-season matches, with a focus on bringing new juniors through for next season
  • Ambassador for the club and may encourage others to join us.

Pay

  • Competitive, linked to coaching qualification, and includes match day travel time.

Person specification

  • Proven high quality coach with record of developing juniors and integrating them into the adult set-up.
  • Planner – thinks ahead to develop juniors for senior sides given predictable university turnover.
  • Energetic, positive, and nurturing, while still ambitious / visionary and challenging.
  • Looking for a long-term project and excited at the prospect of taking the club forward.
  • For the right candidate there may be scope for additional responsibilities.
