Oxford Hawks is seeking a dynamic, motivated and experienced Women's 1s Assistant Performance Coach to join their team for the 2026/27 season and beyond. This role will involve co-coaching the Women’s 1s in National League (England Hockey Women’s Conference – Midlands) and overseeing the Women's 2s, currently in the South Central Premier Division 1.

With an exciting club development vision, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape the future of Oxford Hawks. The club offers high-quality facilities, including an onsite clubhouse and two floodlit artificial grass pitches.

Goals & Objectives:

The primary goal is for the coach to foster a collaborative environment, working with the squad and the 1s performance coach to define shared performance and process goals, ensuring both teams are positioned to reach their full potential. The outcome goal is to sustainably elevate the Women's 2s team to a higher league. Furthermore, we are committed to creating a supportive coaching environment that offers opportunities for professional development in each coach's specific areas of interest. 

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Women’s 1s Performance coach to lead the performance section of Oxford Hawks Hockey Club.
  • Develop and expand coaching provision throughout the women's performance section by providing co-coaching support to the Women's 1s team.  
  • Lead the women's 2s performance squad by setting a compelling vision and ambitious goals in collaboration with the squad.
  • Create a high-performance team culture, challenging and supporting players to excel. 
  • Work with the captain to define expectations and behaviours that maximize team potential.
  • Deliver engaging training sessions twice weekly (Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7-9 pm).
  • Attend weekend women’s 2s games to provide tactical input and leadership. League games are played on Saturdays.
  • Lead the collection and analysis of match-day footage, preparing materials for the squad's review and development. (Infrastructure to capture the footage is provided by the club).
  • Oversee squad fitness to enhance performance within the performance section’s physical preparation programme.
  • Foster an inclusive environment that makes all players feel welcome and enables them to perform at their best.
  • Develop individual players in the performance squad and attract new players promoting the club's values around Our Community, Our Home and Our Future.
  • Engage in the performance coach development framework, collaborating with other coaches and the performance director.

Experience & Skills:

  • Proven experience coaching with ambition to lead a performance team.
  • Ability to work with women's section coaches and identify/develop players with growth potential.
  • Motivated, positive, and proactive with a successful track record.
  • Demonstrated ability to create a high-performance team culture.
  • Skill in interpreting team and individual performance and providing constructive feedback including, for example, providing players with individual development plans.
  • Collaborative leadership style to maintain positive relationships with other coaches and captains.
  • Proficiency in match-day footage collection and video analysis software (Support will be provided in this area).
  • Commitment to supporting the club's goals and objectives
