Oxford Hockey Club are seeking a coach for the Men’s 2nd XI for the 2026/27 season.

About the club

Oxford HC have 7 men’s teams, with the 1st XI now playing in South Central Premier 1 in the 26/27 season.

All teams benefit from regular coaching and training, with pitches and our clubhouse being based in central Oxford at Oxford Brookes University. The club has a strong partnership with the University. The club is proud to have a diverse playing base, formed from adult and junior players as well as University students.

The club offers a fun and friendly atmosphere, high quality training and good facilities, with regular team and club social events as well as mixed hockey and a summer league.

Who are we looking for?

The club is seeking well-qualified and committed coach to help coach and manage our 2nd XI. The team are currently competing in South Central North 1 and are looking to build on last season’s progress.

Having finished 8th, the team showed they can compete with the league’s best at times, but the future aim is to turn that potential into regular performances. A consistent coach will be key to this, providing stability, clear direction, and helping develop a cohesive, well-organised team.

Individuals applying would ideally hold an England Hockey Level 2 Coaching qualification (or equivalent) and have good coaching experience. Applicants should be able to commit to one training session a week on Thursday evening, as well as Saturday match days. We welcome applications from individuals from across all backgrounds.

What we can offer

The 2nd XI boasts a high level of committed senior and junior talent, with a number of players pushing to play 1st XI hockey regularly. The team have an established leadership group who would support the coach and help with team administration too. Successful applicants will work closely with the 1st XI coach, benefitting from coach development and support. The 1st and 2nd XI train at the same time on Thursday evenings.

The club can offer suitable remuneration based on the coach’s level of experience, as well as CPD. For the right candidate additional coaching hours in the junior section and on school holiday hockey camps are available, with the possibility of additional hours at local schools and Oxford Brookes University where possible.
