Based in south Yorkshire, Sheffield Hockey Club (SHC) is an ambitious club that boasts 12 adult sides and over 275 youth athletes.
SHC was awarded the operating license on behalf of England Hockey to deliver the Talent Academy for the Yorkshire region in 2025 and following a highly successful first year season of operation we’re now looking to recruit further talented coaches to join our delivery team for the 2026-27 delivery cycle.
Our Talent Academy Programme is based at the Sheffield Hallam University, Sports Park (Bawtry Road), Rotherham operating on a Monday night throughout the year, with weekend and holiday elements of the programme being split between the Sports Park and other pitches across the Yorkshire region.
We are actively seeking applications for the following keys roles on our Talent Academy Programme:
Head Coach/Programme Co-ordinator (Circa £32.50 per hour)
Oversee/mentor and quality assure the team of coaches delivering SHC’s Talent Academy Programme aligned to the England Hockey Talent framework. This role will be required to oversee and mentor our TA Coaching Team to develop and deliver a high-quality TA coaching and education programme.
Lead Coach (Circa £30 per hour)
You will lead a team of coaches to delivery SHC’s Talent Academy Programme aligned to the England Hockey Talent framework ensuring you create an effective, safe and healthy talent development culture both for your coaching team and all athletes on the programme.
Coach/GK Coach (Circa £25 per hour)
You will be required to work as part of a team of coaches and support the development and delivery of our coaching and education programme which will engage, excite, and develop talented athletes.
Assistant Coach (Circa £17.50 per hour)
You will be required to work as part of a team of coaches and assist programme delivery both on and off the pitch, supporting other senior members of our coaching team.
Applicants for all roles will be expected to have experience of planning and implementing a successful hockey curriculum either in a club, county, or school environment to high-potential athletes.
You will have experience of developing players to play at Tier 1 Club, County and TA level and have good knowledge of the Talent Academy Framework/Talent Principles, with a focus on player development and wellbeing and healthy development culture. Applicants should have the skills to build relationships with coaching colleagues, parents and the players.
A key part of all roles will include planning and delivering weekly training to each group, working together to select and attend matches during weekend dates.
