Head of Hockey

The role

We are seeking to appoint, from 1 September 2026, an outstanding individual to the position of Head of Hockey within our highly successful PE and Games department. 

The Manchester Grammar School is a leading hockey school with its own generous salary scale, significantly above main scale rates.

This is a full-time, permanent position; however, we may be able to offer some flexibility to the right candidate. The successful applicant may be a PE teacher or someone with a specific background in hockey, but they will have experience of playing and coaching hockey at an elite level.  

The department

Sport is central to school life at MGS and pupils enjoy significant success in many areas. Our sports teams regularly feature in the later stages of national competitions, with a significant number of pupils representing regional and national teams. We are regular national hockey finalists at various age groups. An Olympic-standard, water-based, floodlit hockey pitch was opened in 2018 and the School opened a state-of-the-art Sports Pavilion in 2026.
