Contract Value: Variable, dependent on availability, between 15 and 20 hours per week

The University of Nottingham invests heavily in sport, including a £40m Sports Village and extensive coaching and development support for its 74 sports clubs and 125+ teams. The University was named Sports University of the Year by The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2021 and 2024.

 

The University of Nottingham Hockey is one of the leading university hockey clubs consistently ranking within the top two in BUCS each year while maintaining four National League teams across the Men’s and Ladies sections.

 

The Men’s Hockey Performance Squad is seeking a new 2nd Team Coach to support the multi-disciplinary coaching team which includes the Men’s 1st Team Head Coach, Men’s 1st Team Assistant Coach, Physiotherapy, Strength & Conditioning, Performance Analysis, Psychology, Nutrition and Lifestyle advisors.

 

UoN Men’s Hockey is a large, high-achieving club with seven teams competing in BUCS and six teams competing in Weekend Leagues, plus a Development Squad which plays in Intra-Mural Sport. This totals approximately 160 active members. Our Performance squad comprises the top 40 players who represent the 1st XI and 2nd XI on matchdays.

 

Minimum Requirements:

·       England Hockey Coach (Level 2) or equivalent

·       Appropriate First Aid and Safeguarding qualifications

·       National League Coaching Experience

 

Expectations:

·       Preseason sessions commencing in the week of 17 August

·       Three practical coaching sessions per week during the season

·       Attendance at EHL Weekend and BUCS Wednesday matches

·       Collaboration with the Head of Men’s Performance Hockey to deliver a high-quality programme

·       Team selection for matches

·       Assistance with player management within the performance squad

·       Participation in performance analysis review meetings

 

Selection Process:

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed in May/June 2026.
