Winchester HC: Men's First Team Coach
Winchester HC WinchesterWe are seeking an experienced 1st XI coach to join our team. The ideal candidate will have
a passion for the sport, a strong understanding of coaching at this level (if not higher) as well
as the ability to inspire and motivate players. We are looking for someone who can be
adaptable and get the best from our talented players.

The Club is a proud Clubmark Club, and has been an EH recognised Talent Centre for player & Coach
development over the last four years – and committed to continuing to invest in all our player members.
Our Men’s 1st XI compete is the South Premier One division and look to make further progress this
coming season. The team is a blend of senior and junior talent, with our 2nd XI team (South 1) working in
sync as part of our premier squad strategy.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan, organise and deliver an effective training program.
Attend all 1st XI matches.
Develop and implement game strategies and tactics.
Provide constructive feedback and support players to enhance their skills and performance
Monitor and evaluate player progress and development.
Attend team selection meetings.
Collaborate with other coaches to ensure a cohesive club coaching and selection approach.
Generate a positive and inclusive team environment
Access and use of Veo video analysis to develop players and game tactics.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Previous coaching experience at a similar level.
Relevant EH coaching qualifications (e.g. Level 2 or equivalent, first aid, safeguarding etc).
Great motivational communication and interpersonal skills.
Commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive team culture.
Ability to work effectively with players of all ages and varying abilities.
REMUNERATION
This is a paid role, with the rate to be agreed depending on coaching qualifications and
experience.
There will also be opportunities for additional paid hours through involvement in other club
talent development programmes, and holiday camps and other key junior age groups.
OPPORTUNITY
This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in the development of the Men’s team
strategy, and whole player development programme.
The role gives access to the Club’s Talent Centre Coach development programme, and the
Club is supportive of ongoing Coach development through approved EH and Sport UK coaching
programmes.
The successful candidate will shape the experience of our top players, and help strengthen the
pathway from junior to senior hockey within an ambitious and supportive club environment.
TIME COMMITMENT
At least one two hour pitch training session a week, running from August through to April, plus
attendance at all match fixtures, and attendance to Talent Centre coach development sessions
(typically 3 hours three times a year).
