GMS And Fuel Update - 30 September

England Hockey have some information for clubs and players ahead of the second weekend of hockey for many on Saturday and Sunday.

GMS

GMS had a much better weekend last time out, with 1,700 results recorded on the system. As a comparison, this is almost 70% more than Fixtures Live, the previous biggest hockey system, achieved on a single Saturday.

Whilst GMS is performing better, there is still work to do to continue to advance the system and improvements will continue to be made. We are listening and responding to feedback as well as adding features as originally planned. We continue to be grateful for the patience of club and league administrators as they familiarise themselves with the new system.

A few reminders of key GMS issues for clubs:

  • Fixtures and results can be viewed here
  • Players are not required to register on GMS at this time – the exception being players in the England Hockey Leagues.
  • Captains that are going to be Team Admin should register as players via the link that Club Admins provide and be assigned as the contact for the appropriate teams.
  • At this time GMS should be used for:
        • Fixture time and venue updates
        • Getting Club Admin and Team Admins on to GMS
        • Simple results reporting (and team sheets/match sheets in the England Hockey Leagues)

Fuel

The current situation with fuel shortages seems to be geographically variable and gradually improving as we head towards the weekend. Given the differences across the country, Area leagues will make local decisions on any postponements in consultation with teams.

In the England Hockey League and EH Championships, we are currently expecting teams to play this weekend and do not want to make any rulings earlier than necessary but recommend any team with concerns stays in close contact with the Competitions Department. Umpires and officials should liaise with appointing bodies in respect of their availability.

Good luck to everyone involved with a game this weekend!
