U14 & U16 Supra League Finals Round-up

With the sun was shining and over 800 spectators in attendance at the U14 & U16 Supra League Finals at Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre, it was a day to remember for all those taking part.

Wimbledon took the cup over Surbiton in the U16 Girl’s Final with Amy Marshall opening the scoring in the first half and Amelie Rees adding another for her side late in the second.

The U16 Boys Final had the crowds on the edge of their seats with Surbiton taking an early lead with a goal from Jack Hobkirk, only for Wimbledon’s Conor Yap to get the equaliser in the 37th minute. With the scoreline tied in normal time, the match went to a shoot-out with Wimbledon winning 3-1 and being crowned champions.

City of York and Cheltenham played out the U16 Girls 3rd/4th place play off.  In a five goal thriller City of York won 3-2 with two goals from City of York’s Charlotte Henebury and one from Niamh Clements.  Cheltenham’s Connie Britton and Laila Howse scored two in reply.

For the U16 boys Sutton Coldfield took 3rd place with a 3-0 win over Brooklands MU with two goals from Rohit Jakhu and one from Caspar Lea.

Knole Park took the U14 Girls title with 3-1 win over Surbiton in the final, the goals coming from Biba Mills with a brace and one from Captain Evie Smith. Surbiton’s Izzy Younge pulled one back in the 30th minute.

Will Surridge struck first for Canterbury in their U14 boy’s final against Cambridge City. Jonny Devereux scored twice extending his teams lead and confirming a 3-0 win.

In the girl’s U14 3rd/4th play offs Bowdon’s Amelie Rigby scored the opening and only goal against Clifton Robinsons, taking her team to victory.

City of York’s captain Aidan Gaunt-Edwards got the opener in the U14 Boy’s play off, but goals from Trojans’ Seth Pickering and captain Ben Mayes secured 3rd place for the Southampton based club.
