What did Eddie Jones 'download' from Danny Kerry?

England and Great Britain women's team head coach Danny Kerry has lifted the lid on when he met England men's rugby head coach Eddie Jones.

Jones invited Danny to meet him and his coaching team soon after Kerry's historic gold medal success in Rio, and with both men renowned for their creative, analytical approaches, they were perfectly placed to discuss coaching in the modern era.

Kerry told The Telegraph, "In effect they plugged me in and downloaded me.

"I think Eddie felt that a lot of coaching in this country was too traditional in its methods.

"Traditionally in British coaching you would isolate the skill; whereas in all the academic theory around skill acquisition, it pretty much says that does not work. You have to develop skill in context. That means practising at high intensity under significant pressure."

Danny has been nominated for the FIH Coach of the Year award, with the winner due to be announced later this month. Jones has taken England's rugby team on a record-breaking run since his appointment as their head coach.

Jones said of Danny last year, "Look at what he's done with his hockey side.

"If you look on face value at the talent in that team compared to the Holland team, it's probably not as great... so his ability to create such a dynamic and hard-working team is fascinating, so we'll learn a lot from him.

"Our coaching staff have been working very hard investigating other sports. With Great Britain doing so well at the Olympics, there are a number of sports to look at and learn from."

Danny will lead his England team into battle against Holland on Sunday 11th June at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park - click here for more details of how to secure a ticket!
