Flyerz Hockey and Access Sport won the Partnership Award that celebrates clubs/programmes which have worked in partnership with others to inspire people to be active through sport, recreation or physical activity, demonstrating improvement to local communities and developing opportunities to give more people a chance to be active.

This fantastic achievement highlights the brilliant work of our Flyerz clubs, players, families and volunteers who make our sport accessible for everyone, inclusive of any ability or disability. Along with the strategic partnership between Access Sport and England Hockey, Flyerz clubs have given more people a chance to be active through encouraging disabled and non-disabled people to play together on equal terms.

Commenting on the award, presented by HRH The Earl of Wessex, Sport and Recreation Alliance commented;

Flyerz brings together a dedicated network of people, clubs and organisations who are working in partnership to make disability inclusion the norm in hockey.
The project is helping to open many eyes to the staggering lack of inclusive sporting opportunities out there and the steps that can be taken to overcome detrimental barriers.

When Flyerz was first established, there were no recognised disability inclusive sections in UK hockey clubs. Now, with Access Sport combining forces in strategic partnership with England Hockey and home-country NGBs, there are over 40 clubs that are part of the growing movement.
