The Club
Amersham & Chalfont HC is a thriving community sports club with well over 400 junior members from U6 upwards, many of whom progress into our 13 senior teams.
We have a fantastic pitch and clubhouse, and are working towards Talent Centre status, with ambitions to expand the clubhouse and playing facilities.
The Role
We are looking for a Junior Coach to inspire and guide our juniors in various age groups in pursuit of their hockey excellence and to create a strong pool of junior players to feed into the senior section. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in fostering a love of the game, improving skills, instilling values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect.
Responsibilities
Plan, organise, assist & lead coaching sessions for Juniors of both male & females between the ages 6-18 with varying skill levels. Specific groups will be determined in conversation with candidates, based on their experience and availability and the club's needs.
Develop and implement age-appropriate training programs that focus on skill development, fitness, and tactical understanding.
Foster a positive and inclusive team environment that encourages player growth and teamwork.
Provide constructive feedback to players and parents, helping them improve their performance.
Attend club meetings and events as required.
Coach at matches/junior festivals both home and away on Sundays throughout the season.
Collaborate with the rest of the coaching team, helping to manage the integratration of junior players into the senior teams in the best way possible for each individual.
Qualifications
Level 1 Hockey Coaching Qualification as a minimum
All relevant safeguarding qualifications.
First Aid Certificate
Personal Specification
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Good planner and well organised
Energetic, postive and nurturing
Working hours
A part-time seasonal role, primarily during the junior hockey season (September to April). The specific coaching schedule will be discussed with candidate, but flexibility is required to accommodate training and matches. There will also be ad hoc opportunities to coach at holiday camps, schools and summer programmes.
Junior training sessions are on Sundays and weekday evenings at pitches in Amersham.
