Matlock Baileans fields multiple teams across various age groups and competes in regional and national leagues.

Position Overview:

Matlock Baileans Hockey Club is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to serve as the Head Coach for its first team, competing in Midlands Premier division. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the coaching program, developing players' skills and tactical understanding, and driving the team's performance in competitive league fixtures and tournaments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • ยท       Develop and implement a comprehensive coaching program that focuses on player development, team cohesion, and tactical proficiency.
  • Conduct regular training sessions to improve players' technical skills, fitness levels, and game understanding.
  • Provide individualised coaching and feedback to players to enhance their performance and address areas for improvement.
  • Create and execute game strategies tailored to the team's strengths and opponents' weaknesses.
  •  Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that promotes sportsmanship, respect, and camaraderie.
  • Collaborate with the club committee, team managers, and other coaches to ensure alignment with the club's overall objectives and values.
  • Attend matches and provide coaching support and guidance during games, including halftime adjustments and post-match debriefs.
  • Monitor and evaluate player progress, team performance, and coaching effectiveness, making adjustments as necessary to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Act as a mentor and role model for players, inspiring them to reach their full potential both on and off the field.
  • Stay informed about developments in hockey coaching methodologies, techniques, and trends, incorporating new ideas into the coaching program where appropriate.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum Level 2 Hockey Coaching qualification or equivalent.
  • Proven experience coaching hockey at a competitive level, preferably with a focus on senior teams.
  • Strong understanding of the rules, tactics, and techniques of field hockey.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire players of varying abilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including the capacity to make decisions under pressure and lead by example.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and a willingness to pursue further coaching qualifications as required.
  • Availability to attend training sessions, matches, and other club events on evenings and weekends as needed.
