Player Profile
A world-class defender, Anna has been ever-present for both England and GB since making her senior international debut back in 2017. She has barely missed a match during that period and has fast become one of the most well respected defenders around, with her tenacious tackling and intelligent reading of the game. Nowhere was that better showcased than at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, where she helped Great Britain to bronze with a series of sterling performances.
She also provides plenty of threat going forward, both with her wicked crosses and her threat from penalty corners, having scored several crucial goals since her maiden strike against India in October 2019.
Anna was a mainstay of the gold medal-winning England team at Birmingham 2022 — held at the University of Birmingham, where she herself had studied some years before — and played in that summer's World Cup, her second. She continued as an ever-present through the 2022–23 and 2023–24 Pro League seasons, competed at the Paris 2024 Olympics, and started the new cycle with an appearance at the 2025 EuroHockey Championships in Mönchengladbach. Now with more than 130 combined England and GB caps, she remains one of the squad's most experienced defenders heading into the 2026 World Cup.
Off the pitch, Anna is close friends with England Rugby centre Jonathan Joseph, having grown up together in Derby.
