Mathew Heal Sets Up Foxtrot Oscar Cancer

Foxtrot Oscar Cancer (FOC)was established in early 2020 after Mathew Heal was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Mathew’s early idea was to help Prostate Cancer UK raise awareness through sport and healthy living, but this has now grown to help all cancer charities in the UK.

Throughout his journey Guildford Hockey have provided amazing support with helping him to get the FOC brand up and running and were great in allowing him to take over the O40s Cup Team for the season. Although Covid tried its best to delay the plans Guildford HC, Mathew and the team managed to get the competition moving and the team have played a vital roll in helping raise more awareness for Foxtrot Oscar Cancer.

Throughout lockdown Mathew has been running other sporting challenges such as the golf eclectic and team marathons but it wasn’t all hard work and sports, Mathew and the team also included healthy living and had some time for Christmas cocktails as a festive treat. You can see more of their activities on facebook.

The Guildford men’s O40s team took part in the England Hockey Masters Championships and made it to the semi-finals but were unfortunately knocked out by Hampstead & Westminster Hockey Club on Saturday. The Guildford team, sponsored by Natilik, a London based technology services company, beat the Army in round 1, Brighton in round 2, Holcombe in round 3 and Spencer in round 4 before facing Hampstead & Westminster.

Mathew didn’t stop there, he has established a close bond with clothing and hockey specialists Hawkinsport who have kindly set up a small clothing online store with 100% of the profits going direct to Prostate Cancer UK. As well as this Mathew has also been assisted by Dragon Field Hockey who have kindly helped with getting people involved and interested in the ideas.
