Players To Be Taken Forward From Age Group Assessments

Players to be taken forward for assessment

The England Hockey Performance Department would like to thank everyone who contributed towards the delivery of the England Age Group trials which took place between 25-30 October at Lilleshall National Sports Centre, Millfield School and Old Loughtonians Hockey Club. From the brilliant Hockey Makers, nominating coaches, facility providers, players, coaches delivering at the training and especially parents for driving players to and from the centres and observing the no spectator policy without hesitation…..THANK YOU!

The coaches leading and observing sessions have been very impressed by the level of enthusiasm and application shown by all players over the three days and we are grateful to each and every player for putting in a concerted effort.

Players are aware that individual written feedback will not be forthcoming. Through their invitation to the trials, they have been advised of the following:

Formal written feedback will not be provided. Coaches will engage with players throughout the three training days, during the pitch sessions. We also invite players to ask lots of questions to help develop their understanding. We also encourage players to take notes at the end of sessions and during breaks, reflecting on the session they have undertaken.

We have a small number of players still to be observed and assessed who were unable to attend trial dates due to injury, illness or impacts of COVID-19. Those players will receive further communication shortly.

We are now able to share the lists of players from the original trial dates who will be taken forward to phase two of the England Age Group assessments - please click on the image below.

Players being taken forward will be joined by those players transitioning from the England U16 programme and those players who formed part of the England U18 programme as year-young players. Those players being taken forward into phase two will receive direct communication in the coming days.

While congratulations go to those who have been taken forward, every player nominated for trials has been nominated on merit for the level of performance and potential they show in their domestic or pathway environments. Through the three training days we hope you have been able to take away plenty of information to reflect on to support your continued development.

We’d like to take this opportunity to once again thank all players for their participation and wish you all the best of luck for the remainder of your season, in what is a very challenging time.
