James Oates is a graduate of the EDP, having won the Sultan of Johor Cup with Great Britain's U21s in 2019.
He received his first international call-up to face Spain in the FIH Pro League in February 2022, and was called up to the GB training squads around the same time. He made his senior Great Britain debut in the 2022/23 FIH Pro League, opening his GB scoring account in that campaign.
Oates went on to win silver with England at the 2023 EuroHockey Championships and has continued to add to his combined England and Great Britain caps through subsequent Pro League seasons, playing his club hockey for Hampstead & Westminster.
