Player Profile
From making his international debut in the summer of 2019 to appearing at an Olympics two years later, Tom Sorsby enjoyed a whirlwind start to his international career. Robust in defence but also capable of playing a major part in attack, he appeared at two EuroHockey Championships with England and played in nearly every game for Great Britain since his debut, culminating in featuring in every game at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
He started his career at Chapeltown HC and Rotherham HC before moving to the University of Nottingham and then Surbiton, where he became a key member of the men's team.
Already an established international by 2022, Tom helped England to bronze at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games and went on to represent England at the 2023 World Cup and 2023 EuroHockey Championships before helping Great Britain qualify for Paris 2024. He featured at the Paris Olympics, his second Games after Tokyo 2020, though selection didn't come as freely as he'd hoped.
Sorsby has since described the Paris experience as a turning point, returning to play what he calls the best hockey of his career for both club and country. He represented England at the 2025 EuroHockey Championships and has continued as a key member of the squad heading into the 2026 World Cup, moving from Den Bosch to Amsterdam in the Dutch Hoofdklasse in 2026.
